Stars Help Create The Blue Trees by Konstantin Dimopoulos

A group of Ann Richards School art students joined the Pease Park Conservancy to help with an art installation in Pease Park. The Blue Trees by Konstantin Dimopoulos is an environmental art installation that helps us visualize what we might lose through deforestation. Our Stars used a colorant, not paint, to apply a non-hazardous blue color to the trunks of the trees. The colorant washes away with water and was vetted and approved by the City of Austin’s Urban Forestry Board, Art in Public Places, Watershed Protection Department, and by a public hearing of the City of Austin Arts Commission. The installation provided an opportunity for our Stars to inspire a conversation with their peers and family about our urban forestry and environment.
