Association of Fundraising Professionals to Recognize ARS Senior

When Class of 2022 senior Cielo R. was a tiny little 6th grader at the Ann Richards School, she decided to take action on the school’s mission statement and help her community. Cielo organized a toy drive at school to donate toys to kids at Dell Children’s Medical Center for the holidays. Cielo continued that mission each year, asking her Ann Richards School sisters to support the toy drive, dropping the toys off at Dell Children’s during the holiday break from school. She did it simply because she wanted the kids at the hospital during the holidays to have something to look forward to and be happy while they were at Dell Children’s.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Austin Chapter announced they will recognize Cielo for her philanthropic efforts through the years by awarding her with the Kelly Davidson Memorial Outstanding Philanthropic Youth at the 2022 Philanthropy Day Awards. Cielo’s toy drive for Dell Children’s ran consecutively for five years until COVID-19 brought the toy drive to a halt in 2020. The senior looks forward to bringing the toy drive back this December so she can get back on track with the mission of bringing joy with a toy to kids at Dell Children’s for the 2021 holiday season.
