9th Graders Build Rube Goldberg Machines

Ms. Lucero’s 9th-grade Physics classes kicked off the spring semester by researching, learning, designing, and building Rube Goldberg machines. The project brought together students in groups to test their skills for the chain reaction-type machines to navigate a marble through a complicated pathway. Students spent a week designing and a few weeks in the MakerSpace building and testing their Rube Goldberg machines. The project culminated with connecting the whole 9th-grade classes’ machines to pass from one machine to the next for a grand finale with confetti. Thanks to a grant from Oracle to pay for supplies, Ms. Lucero’s 9th-graders were able to bring Physics concepts to life through hands-on learning.
