6th Graders Create Enrichment Devices for the Austin Zoo

Each year our Star 6th graders start the school year with a community project that aims to teach them the skills to collaborate, create, and communicate in groups. The Austin Zoo partners with the Ann Richards School to create enrichment devices for their rescue animals that need stimulation during feeding time. Our Stars research and observe the animals, sketch a design, build a prototype, adjust their plan and create the enrichment device for delivery. The final step is to see their work in action, and these photos of the bear and mountain lion exhibit a successful engagement.
