Transition Camp Welcomes Incoming Stars

Each year, the Ann Richards School welcomes incoming students with a week of meeting their peers, creating art, playing fun games, and building a mini structure during Transition Camp. This year, almost 150 6th graders attended, and due to COVID last year, a special 7th-grade session was added to officially welcome the 7th graders to campus after missing out the previous year.

A key component to Transition Camp is learning how to use the tools in the MakerSpace. Students dive right into the Maker culture on campus through training in the MakerSpace on how to measure material properly, use a hand saw, and how to operate drills and drives for building. Our new Stars take these skills and collaborate on building a mini structure to present to their peers at the end of camp.

Through support from the Ann Richards School Foundation, Transition Camp offers a way to help build Sisterhood for the incoming students at the Ann Richards School to ensure a successful start to the school year.
