Stars Welcome Oita Sister City Students for Cultural Exchange and Community Connection

Last month, our Stars had the incredible opportunity to host students from Austin’s sister city in Oita, Japan, as part of a special cultural exchange program coordinated by the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC).

Through this meaningful partnership, 8th-grade students from Oita traveled to Austin for English language learning and cultural immersion. During their visit, our Stars proudly showcased the Ann Richards School, sharing what makes our campus and community so special and enjoying lunch together as they built new friendships across cultures.

Our guests from Oita explored Austin alongside our Stars and visited the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, the Texas State Capitol, the Travis County Courthouse, and Barton Creek Square Mall. They also connected with fellow students from McCallum High School, further strengthening ties between schools and communities.

We are especially grateful to the Austin-Oita Sister City Committee (AOSCC) and TIEC for making this exchange possible. Programs like this deepen global understanding and celebrate the power of connection.

It was inspiring to see our Stars supporting and engaging with our global community. We look forward to continuing this special partnership in the years to come.
