The Ann Richards School Library proudly hosted the annual Battle of the Books for the fourth consecutive year, welcoming student readers from across Central Texas for two exciting days of literary competition.
This year, sixteen high school teams from Austin ISD and Pflugerville ISD participated in the high school competition, while ten Austin ISD middle school teams competed in the middle school division.
Students from each team read ten books spanning multiple genres and tested their knowledge in fast-paced, trivia-style rounds. The event also featured prizes, raffles, food, and plenty of fun as teams celebrated their love of reading.
The 2026 competition brought outstanding results for the Stars. The Ann Richards middle school team claimed first place for the second consecutive year, earning the championship title. The high school team also delivered an exceptional performance, earning second place out of sixteen teams and securing a well-deserved spot on the podium.
We are incredibly proud of our Stars and grateful to all the teams who participated in this spirited celebration of literacy. Congratulations to all of this year’s Battle of the Books competitors!
