Class of 2021 senior Lizbeth F. started the month of December with some fantastic news. On December 1st, she opened her email to virtual confetti covering her laptop screen with a message about her selection as a QuestBridge Match Scholar with her number one choice for college, Yale University. Lizbeth will receive a four-year education valued at over $300,000 free of charge! She is the first student in Ann Richards School history to be admitted to Yale University.
Lizbeth shared, “as a first-generation college student to have the privilege to attend Yale University next fall as a QuestBridge Scholar, feels surreal. My mother and father never had the opportunity to pursue a college education, but they made sure to instill an appreciation for education and a love of learning in me.”
Lizbeth was extremely appreciative of all the faculty and staff at the Ann Richards School for their support through the years that led to her acceptance. Adding, “all of my accomplishments reflect the dedication of incredible teachers at the Ann Richards School. Being matched with Yale through QuestBridge means that my biggest dreams are coming true, and in the process, I am opening doors for my Ann Richards School sisters to come. I am the first Ann Richards student to receive admission at Yale University, but surely not the last.”
