Senior Lucia H. will spend 11 days researching polar science with the Joint Antarctic School Expedition (JASE). Lucia was one of four participants selected from the United States. She will head to King George Island, Antarctica for several days of studying animal behavior at Elefanteras beach and on the Ardley Peninsula, vegetation surveys at the margin of Collins Glacier, glaciological studies at Bellinghausen Dome, and visits to several international science research stations where students give presentations about their scientific interests and culture. JASE helps build relationships between future generations of scientists from Chile and the United States while developing the participants’ awareness of global scientific issues.
