Ascension Seton Healthcare Exploration Day Inspires Our Stars

The main commons area at the Ann Richards School transformed into a hub of scrubs, stethoscopes, and career possibilities during the Ascension Seton Healthcare Exploration Day.

Through a partnership with Ascension Seton, all of our Stars in grades 6–12 spent the day rotating through interactive sessions led by professionals from 20 hospital departments, including pharmacy, radiology, cath lab, materials management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, nursing, and human resources. Students learned about education pathways, career pivots, and the many ways to make a difference in healthcare, both in clinical and non-clinical roles.

The day also emphasized whole-student well-being. Breakout sessions on wellness and meditation encouraged students to prioritize their mental and emotional health, while an internet safety workshop offered practical strategies for navigating the digital world responsibly.

“Healthcare Exploration Day is about opening doors,” said Peggy Hanley, Executive Director of the Foundation. “When our students meet professionals who are living out these careers, it makes their own goals feel possible.”

By the end of the day, students walked away with more than information. They left with new connections, fresh inspiration, and a clearer sense of how their interests and talents can shape a future in healthcare.
