The ARS Classic brought creativity and community spirit to the Ann Richards School campus as players tested their putting skills on a mini golf course designed and built entirely by our 7th-grade Stars. This unique fundraiser blended engineering, design, and imagination, transforming the MakerSpace into a hub of hands-on learning and inventive problem-solving.
From Texas landmarks to Austin favorites, each hole reflected what makes our community special. Students combined concept sketches, digital 3D models, laser cut designs, and micro:bit programming to bring every idea to life. One hole featured a UT Tower theme, complete with a 3D-printed bell designed in OnShape CAD software.
Players arrived ready for fun and fashion. Teams showed off coordinated outfits and themed costumes as they competed for the Best Dressed Team prize. Whether it was matching Ann Richards’ shirts or fashionable caftan dresses, style points were definitely part of the game.
Throughout the afternoon, families, colleagues, friends, and alumni enjoyed friendly competition, raffle items from Austin restaurants and shops, and a lively 19th Hole After Party at ABGB. Most importantly, every putt supported STEM programming that empowers young women to become innovators and leaders.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, sponsored a hole, dressed to impress, and helped our Stars putt for a purpose. Your support helps bring remarkable projects like this to life.
We are already looking forward to next year’s ARS Classic and to seeing what our talented 7th graders dream up next.
