6th-Grade Stars Deliver Animal Enrichment Devices to Austin Zoo

Each year our 6th-grade Stars partner with the Austin Zoo to help the Zookeepers during feeding time with the rescue animals by creating an animal enrichment device. Our Stars research and observe the animals, sketch a design, build a prototype, adjust their plan and create the enrichment device for delivery. The final step is to see their work in action and learn what they could do to modify their design after seeing the animals engage with the enrichment device. The project teaches our 6th graders how to build in the MakerSpace, collaborate with their peers, and communicate as partners with the Austin Zoo.
