The 1st Annual Come Fly With Me STEM Challenge on Saturday, March 8, 2025, paired one Ann Richards School student with their parent or guardian to build a self-powered flying machine. Under the direction of our MakerSpace Coach, Mr. Oren Connell, teams worked in the school’s MakerSpace to design and construct, using provided materials, their Flugtag-inspired flying machine to launch from the top of the band tower. Prizes for Farthest Flyer, Biggest Flop, and Judges Choice were awarded to participating teams. At the end of the challenge, all participants went home with a pair of Top Gun aviator sunglasses to celebrate the occasion.
