At the Austin ISD annual Salute Awards, middle school teacher Kim Collins was named Secondary Teacher of the Year for the district. Ms. Collins has taught at Ann Richards for the past 5 years and a teacher for over 15 years. Collins teaches middle school math, high school engineering and coaches soccer at Ann Richards.... High school math and engineering teacher Shamaa Lakshmanan was named a Finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award. Her nomination under the leadership category placed her in the top 5 of secondary educators in the state. Congratulations to Ms. Lakshmanan!
The Ann Richards School was named one of the top public high schools in the country according to a new national list. The 2019 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings placed our Stars at #137 nationally and #19 in Texas. The list ranked over 17,000 public high schools nationwide.
Last week our 12th graders presented their Capstone projects at St. Edward’s University in front of a professional panel, their teachers, and peers. Senior Capstone involves partnering with organizations throughout the Austin area to help address a need through all three STEM pathways: engineering, biomedical science and media technology.
