Jailyn, A Star Story

| September 10, 2011

We asked Ann Richard School stars - How do you live the ARS mission statement? Here is Jailyn's interview.

Eleventh grader at ARS, Jailyn Bankston…

Q. How do you feel that the Ann Richards School helped you prepare to attend and graduate from college?

A. I follow the Biomedical pathway to prepare for a degree in criminology at San Houston State University that I discovered through the college center. At the Ann Richards School, I can take college courses as my electives.

Q. How has the Ann Richards School encouraged you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

A. The heavy workload and high expectation of the ARS faculty have helped me get used to hard work. Coach Brown makes us work hard in P.E., too!

Q. How has the Ann Richards School helped you support your global community?

A. Teachers and students are expected to participate in service learningl, so we have food and clothing drives, collect money for charities, and mentor the middle school girls.

Q. What do you like best about the Ann Richards School?

A. This year we wanted, and were given, independence in the high school. Now we have more freedom for lunch and advisory.
